I love all four seasons. I love each month of the year for the unique and distinct qualities they bring. Winter is winding down and I think back to the fierce and forceful elements that season delivered. We had some bitterly cold days and nights. We had snow storms that dropped layers of snow and wind that drifted that snow. Spring is in the wings and we have had some sunny warm days giving us a taste of what is to come. Last night ice covered the deck and steps and many places had freezing rain. Our snow is quickly disappearing and leaving puddles and mud. Mud is what we get between the beautiful snow cover and the budding green of trees and grass. The mud is not pretty. It is not pleasant walking as each step sinks you into the muddy frost free depths. Olive hates going outside and gravitates to the icy snow she finds to do her business. The mud is a mess and I look forward to it drying up which I know it will. This is the in between, the waiting period for the next season and the blessings it will bring. But of course along with the blessings will be the challenges. That is the duality of seasons and of everything really. Always the Ying and the Yang, the good and the bad, the beautiful and the ugly. I look out my window and yearn for the day I return to sit in my gazebo and Spring arrives. Today that hope is enough and winter almost just a memory.
