Book # 15

Oct 29, 2026

I always welcome a box of books when they arrive but especially look forward to receiving a box of new books. Today I anticipate such a box. Hopefully today or tomorrow a box will be delivered and set on the back veranda of the farmhouse I used to inhabit. In that house I crafted several of my first books. After leaving it I worked on two others in my small Princess St. apartment in the city. Then I wrote If These Walls in our new little home. Where the writing takes place may not seem that important to some but those three locations are so meaningful and so pivotal to the words that make it to the page. For each dwelling and for each stage of the life I’ve been given I am so thankful. And oh how thankful I am for the publication of my fifteenth novel. A little girl dreamed of being three things when she grew up; a mother, a teacher and an author. Now an almost seventy year old woman feels the blessings of all three dreams having come true. The three vocations brought sorrow, heartache, disappointment, regrets and insecurity but have also provided such joy and satisfaction. I will open the box when it arrives and pull out a beautiful book filled with those same emotions and reflections. From a seed of an idea a story was crafted and holds all the layers of life. I will hug the book and place it in the bookends knowing I did my best. I loved , labored and did the best I knew how at all three jobs and the blessings I received have made it all worthwhile.
